Indeed, it seems that Jack is finally finished with the pacifier ("ci ci"). He still hasn't asked for it. Which is wonderful... and it has truly been an easier transition that I thought it would be. There is, however, one negative side effect... nap time has suffered. My once prolific sleeper (4 hour naps each day like clock-work) now plays, sings, reads books, & bangs on the wall for 2 hours and only after mommy has come in at least 4 times will he settle down and nap. Which leaves him with a much shorter nap than usual - if he naps at all. And has left him a little more edgy. As for me...I honestly don't know how I'll cope with a drastically shorter nap - or if he decides to drop it all together. Those long naps have enabled me to do my other 2 jobs (law office & church work). In frustration I even considered pulling the pacifier out of retirement... but didn't, don't worry.
In his procrastination of sleep Jackson has discovered the Styrofoam behind his headboard (a trick my dad taught me to keep the headboard from banging and scoffing up the wall). When I checked on him yesterday he had chipped away small pieces of the Styrofoam and put one way up his nose! Thankfully I was able to wrangle it out with tweezers. And, today, when I checked on him, he informed me that he liked eating the popcorn candy. AGH! He was EATING it! After much scolding and a call to poison control, he finally went to sleep. (By the way, they said it should not have any effect on him, but I will probably notice it in his poop - something to look forward to!). Needless to say, the Styrofoam will be removed.
