Ten Months

Ten months sounds so old. Could my baby girl really be that old??

This past month was packed with changes in her... sitting up by herself, crawling, pulling up, now cruising a little, first boo boo from knocking her head into something, a 3rd tooth, first word, dropped 3rd nap, and eating all kinds of new foods by herself. So far she will eat anything with the exception of baby food with beef in it. Who could blame her? Ugh!

New obsession: Babies! She gets crazy excited to see them in pictures or on TV. And she whines to hold newborn cousin Caleb. Hannah loves her baby dolls. She has one that stays in the crib and one downstairs that she can play with. Every single time we go to get her after a nap she scrambles to grab her little lovey blanket and the "nite nite baby" to take them with her. (We sneak them back in after the diaper change.)

Other than her dolls, Hannah much more prefers Jack's toys right now. Race cars, larger legos, and Star Wars figures are great to gnaw on, evidently.

She loves being outside now that the weather is so great. Especially watching the birds and squirrels... or that wild animal brother running around. Walks on the green way have been fun!

She jabbers on much of day... I don't think it will be too long until we hear more words.

Also, she has become more of a snuggler the last 2 months or so. She'll nuzzle and cuddle so much more now. We love it!!

First time pulling up. She is fixated on these steps!

Always has to stick out the tongue for concentration!

Day at the farm

I took Jackson, Hannah, and buddy Luke and we met a group of friends at the NCSU Animal Farm Day yesterday. It is always so fun. We saw turkeys, horse with her colt, several types of cows, calves, sheep, pigs, goats, rabbits... But the best part is that they got to hold and touch baby chicks, rabbits, a sheep, kid (baby goat), & pigs. There were several tractors there for the kids to explore (IE climb on and pretend to drive) and even little lassoing lessons. At the end we got yummy chocolate icecream from their dairy cows. Hannah loved looking at the animals too. She was in the bjorn carrier the whole time so I didn't get any pics of her. After the farm we went over to some friends home for a lunch picnic. No pics of that I'm sorry to say, since I was feeding and chasing Hannah around at that point. It was a great day!

Actually in the pen chasing two pigs... and Vera looking like a diva! :)

This was the 5th attempt at a cute pic of them... I gave up. And, no, we didn't plan on the outfits... but they did get a few sneers from some wolfpack students.

I thought this little kid (baby goat) was the cutest! Although those human kiddos are pretty darn cute too. :)

They LOVED the baby chicks.

Lassoing is hard! Luke's lasso instructor was pretty helpful...

Jackson's instructor was not. He loved it anyway. :)

First Word

Hannah's first word is NOT "mama", not "dada", not even "jack".

It is "dez dez". As in Daisy, our cat. A few minutes ago Hannah was reaching up to my bed to try to grab Daisy's tail. She said "dez dez" over and over. We left the room and came back a few minutes later and she did the same thing while reaching out to grab her again.

She's obsessed with her. She gets all squeaky excited over pictures of cats or cats on TV too. It figures... she says the name of the one in our home who really doesn't care a bit about her! :)

Oh, she's been saying mama and dada for a few weeks all the time, but we don't necessarily think she means it or knows what she is saying. In fact, every time I point to a person in a picture she says "dada" - no matter who it is.
So, my apologies. Sick 5 year old + mobile infant + nice weather = few postings.

Here's my peace offering...

I never thought that my kiddos would enjoy playing together very much due to the big age difference. They showed me. Jack seems to have a mission to make her smile and laugh all the time. I love it. She eats it all up, of course.
[More stimulating & inspiring posts to come soon .... well, ok, at least more pics of these cuties.]

Watch Out World...

Here she comes!

We had seen a lot of tummy play and scooting around the last several weeks...

And then a lot of this push-up position...

Next she tried to crawl on her toes...

Finally on her knees, where she got stuck for about a week trying to figure out those hands...

She would take a few little crawls and then fall. Then, today after nap she discovered that big brother had left his cars all over the den floor. It was too much for her to resist! She was all over the place! I haven't yet caught on camera how she sticks her tongue out slightly in the corner of her lips in concentration. So funny!

Of course this video is not the best quality... and she was a bit tired when we finally got it out.

We are proud of you, baby girl!!

My kid cracks me up

Jack loves to watch American Idol with me. Today while we watched an episode on the DVR, we had a funny conversation that went something like this --

Jackson: Mooo!! Moooo!!

Me: Why are you 'mooing' at the TV?

Jackson: Did you hear everybody? They all 'moo' at that guy [pointing to Simon]. He's the Silent Cow.

Me: [cracking up] Honey, his name is SIMON COWELL. And they are yelling 'boo' at him.

Jackson: Oh.

.........................

And, last week I was told to "use the forest just like Luke Skywalker". I tried to correct him but he insists that it is forest.

It's fun to be his mom. :)
