forgetting thunder

I had plans to take Jackson to the park today - a local park that I've found that has tons of cool castles, pirate ships, etc. He loves it! After getting him up and dressed, I was distracted from my morning mantra (must. have. java.), by a very unfamiliar sound. Rain. And lots of it. Jackson and I sat at the window and watched with amazement. I obviously haven't watched the weather channel lately.

Then came the thunder. Jackson looked at me puzzled. I realized he had forgotten what thunder and lightening were. How funny. Signs of the times. He was so excited about it and not scared at all. In fact, he was begging to go outside and play in it. And, he got the biggest kick out of hearing Daisy growl from underneath my bed. She is SOOO ferocious!

Blogging about the weather is not typically the exciting, edge-of-your-seat material I usually blog about. ha. But, rain has been such a rarity. NC is in the worst drought in history. They are counting the DAYS of water left in the lakes and water sources in my area. Conservation is the news topic de jour. Mike & I were just discussing last night how we need a little tropical depression -something I never thought I'd say.

I'll happily change today's schedule for a little blessing from heaven. Who knows, maybe our backyard will get a little green and stop looking like the Nevada desert.
