9 Months

Can I just say that I love this age?! Our little peanut is learning tricks left and right and gets so full of herself! Often when we go get her after a nap she'll go through a bunch of her new tricks in a row...such a show off. :) This month she learned how to wave, to clap her hands, drink from a sippy cup, make a ton of silly clicks and noises with her mouth, shake her head "no", stick out her tongue, and babble and mimic more sounds. We hear "mama" and "dada" all the time, but we aren't sure if she means it at this point.

Her stats = Length 28.5" (75%); Weight 17lbs 15oz (25th%); Head 17" (25th%).... which means, according to the pediatrician, that she is what every girl wants --tall and skinny! (must be the genes on her daddy's side!!)

She's eating anything we give her at this point. She is pretty good at feeding herself. She loves bananas, toast, pancakes, peaches, mashed potatoes, and of course the puffs.

She's on the cusp of crawling...still doing a little scooting move and can get to what she wants... eventually. She gets on all 4s and whines in frustration because she hasn't figured it all out. Or she gets into push up position and tries to crawl on her tip toes. I know all too well that it will be coming soon enough - a moment I will both love and dread!

Hannah has become such a good sleeper. She is still taking 3 naps/day (despite my efforts to drop the 3rd). Morning nap is 1.5-2 hours, afternoon nap is 2-3 hours, and 3rd nap is 30min-1hour. She still goes down every night around 7:30-8 and sleeps until 7-7:30 the next morning. We have been able to lay her down and give her the little pink lovey blanket (thanks Shannon!) and she goes to sleep on her own since a very young age. Such a blessing!!

80's Rock Revisited...

Just laughed until I cried watching this video by Rhett & Link... too good to pass up. Enjoy!

Random Recent Pics

New favorite activity: Standing on couch and looking out window.

Just a pic to show off the two teefers better. Still a little hard to see with the drool. And have you seen those lashes? They are getting longer every day! Not really. But, I did get asked the other day if I curled her lashes. Seriously? My 8 month old?? I don't even curl my own.

snuggle bugs in their jammies

So happy with her thumbkin and her lovey. And apparently an anonymous man put his hat on her.

both educational and disgusting

Jackson wanted to give a little educational documentary for kids on his new trick for not throwing up when mommy and daddy require him to eat gross things.... like "basagna" (aka lasagna).

Can you tell he still has texture issues with mushy/slimy foods? Mashed Potatoes are his absolute least favorite. At least they are going down now. Ugh. All it took was the magic finger on the throat. You heard it first here.

[sorry.]

Two Little Tarheels

Whether they are winning or losing, we're faithful fans! (But it sure would be great to win tonight...and nothing short of a miracle)

yesterday

Yesterday was one of those days. You know the ones... when you want to have a "do-over" and jump back in bed by 10AM. The previous night we were out late enjoying the Super Bowl with friends. The kids were great, even well past bed times.

The payback came the next morning. All those who kept commenting on how chill Hannah was Sunday night should have seen her Monday. The evil twin came out to play.

BOTH kiddos fell apart at the drop of a hat. Hannah ended up sleeping away most of the day - seriously she had already had 2 naps by 1:30. Her awake moments were not pretty. Jack reverted to being 18mo old and couldn't take no for an answer to anything... major crocodile tears over EVERYTHING. And the whiiiiiining. Ugh. He seriously hadn't been that bad in years.

Not the best day to be in public, yet I discovered we were down to the last 3 diapers and did not have a thing to eat for dinner except for leftover chicken wings. So I took the grumps for a quick trip to Target. Not fun.

The worst by far was having to perform the Heimlich maneuver on Jackson during lunch. I had finished my meal and was about to take a giant stack of laundry upstairs to put away. I looked in on him and saw him in distress. It was AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! Praise God I was there, the Heimlich worked, and I knew how to do it! We both cried afterwards. (For years we have harped on him to eat slower, chew more. I am shocked this hasn't happened sooner. Hopefully lesson learned.)

Mike came home that evening in the middle of a giant Jackson tantrum. After dinner, I basically clocked out. How sad is it that I wanted to clean our bathroom and straighten our room just to have an excuse for time to myself. After that and some good time in Bible Study, I was good as new. Really could have used that 12 hours earlier.

Praise be to the Lord that His mercies are new every morning!

Snow, part II

We spent the last three days sledding and having a blast with the neighborhood kids (and adults)! Jackson became the master sledder... and we did runs from the top of the hill all the way to the street!
Hannah even got to try it out (see video at the bottom of this post)! She honestly had the same expression the whole time - not upset, not laughing... just amused. So funny!
She did love hanging out with the Isaac girls! She LOVES them and she snuggles right up to them.
